Besides the musical activity proper, the members of the association deal with the different aspects of the launeddas, through researches on the acoustic principles of the launeddas (A. Fanari), the musical structure and the organology (G. Meloni and G. Pala), the historical and sociological aspects (E. and G. Lallai), studies on the technical evolution of the instrument (F. Sirigu), discography and Sardinian dance (I. F. Spano), the collection of the canes and the instrument maintenance (D. Tangianu), the construction and the technique of continuous breath (I. Zucca), the sound reproduction and propagation (R. Tangianu).
The first results of these researches are contained in the volume "LAUNEDDAS", edit in 1997 by AM&D – Cagliari. It is a collection of essays written by all the partners, who have studied specified aspects. The work has been enriched by the contribution of famous experts on Sardinia who have written about the historical and artistic aspects concerning this ancient instrument.
The publication has been presented in numerous places in Sardinia and in the rest of Italy, such as Cagliari (Salone del Banco di Sardegna), Sassari (Conservatory), Nuoro (Ethnographic Museum), Florence (Sala del Cenacolo of the Cenacle, Church of S. Croce), Milan (Amici del Loggione della Scala). The presentation, always accompanied by a concert, was successful everywhere.
